Crickett American Walnut 22 WMR details
Every single shot Crickett works the same way. You open the bolt, drop in one round, close it, then pull the cocking knob back before the rifle will fire. That extra step gives a parent or instructor time to watch each shot.
Length of pull is 12 inches, which suits most young shooters, it weighs about 3 pounds and it comes with iron sights and a receiver drilled and tapped for an optics rail. The receiver is drilled and tapped for Crickett scope mounts if you want to add an optic later.
The blued barrel has the traditional look. Keep a light coat of oil on it and store it dry.
.22 WMR in the Crickett American Walnut 22 WMR
The .22 WMR (22 Magnum) shoots a 30 to 40 grain bullet much faster than a .22 LR, so it carries more energy out to 100 yards and beyond. It’s a good step up for groundhogs, coyotes at close range and other small varmints. Ammo costs more than .22 LR and the report is louder. SAAMI lists the official cartridge and chamber drawings, and Wikipedia has a readable .22 WMR history.

Fitting the Crickett American Walnut 22 WMR
A rifle that’s too long is the most common reason kids struggle. With the stock in the shoulder, the child should reach the trigger with the first pad of the finger and keep the elbow bent. Crickett’s short length of pull is what makes that possible for small arms.
Who the Crickett American Walnut 22 WMR is for
We see the Crickett American Walnut 22 WMR go to:
- Parents buying a first rifle for a child
- Grandparents who want to start a grandkid shooting
- Youth programs and 4-H shooting clubs
Teach the basic safety rules before the first range trip. The NSSF safety guides are a good place to start.
Care and storage
Cleaning is easy. Remove the one takedown screw under the stock, lift out the barreled action, run a cleaning rod from the breech and wipe everything with a light oil. Store it unloaded with the bolt open or removed.
