Crickett Target Model 22 LR details
Think of it as a small competition rifle. The stock is built around a precision setup with an adjustable cheek piece, the barrel is heavier than the standard Crickett, and there’s room for optics. It loads one round at a time.
The Target Model uses an orange and black laminate thumbhole stock and a Picatinny optics rail, with a manual cocking safety and blued metal.
The blued barrel has the traditional look. Keep a light coat of oil on it and store it dry.
The .22 LR cartridge
.22 Long Rifle ammo is cheap, easy to find and mild to shoot. It’s the standard for teaching, backyard plinking at a safe range and small game hunting. Wikipedia has a good .22 Long Rifle history, and SAAMI publishes the chamber drawings.

The adjustable cheek piece is the part to set first. Raise or lower it until the shooter’s eye lines up with the scope without lifting the head. Then set the bipod so the rifle sits level on the bench.
Is the Crickett Target Model 22 LR right for you?
The Crickett Target Model 22 LR is a good fit for:
- Parents buying a first rifle for a child
- Grandparents who want to start a grandkid shooting
- Youth programs and 4-H shooting clubs
Teach the basic safety rules before the first range trip. The NSSF safety guides are a good place to start.
Keeping it in good shape
Rimfire ammo is dirty, so clean the bore every few hundred rounds and wipe the bolt face. Store the rifle unloaded in a case or safe. Teach the shooter to check the chamber every time they pick it up.
