Crickett Muddy Girl Scope Package features
Every single shot Crickett works the same way. You open the bolt, drop in one round, close it, then pull the cocking knob back before the rifle will fire. That extra step gives a parent or instructor time to watch each shot.
Length of pull is 11.5 inches, which suits most young shooters, it weighs about 3 pounds and it comes with iron sights and a receiver drilled and tapped for an optics rail. The Crickett line carries a lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship from the maker.
Blued steel looks sharp and costs a little less than stainless. A quick wipe with an oily rag after use keeps rust away.

Buying the package saves you from matching a scope and mount to the rifle yourself. Plan on one range trip to zero the scope. Most .22 shooters zero at 50 yards.
.22 LR in the Crickett Muddy Girl Scope Package
The .22 Long Rifle is the cheapest and quietest common cartridge, with almost no recoil. That’s why most people learn to shoot with one. It’s also good for squirrels, rabbits and plinking out to about 75 yards. Wikipedia has a good .22 Long Rifle history, and SAAMI publishes the chamber drawings.

Getting the fit right
A rifle that’s too long is the most common reason kids struggle. With the stock in the shoulder, the child should reach the trigger with the first pad of the finger and keep the elbow bent. Crickett’s short length of pull is what makes that possible for small arms.
Is the Crickett Muddy Girl Scope Package right for you?
We see the Crickett Muddy Girl Scope Package go to:
- Parents buying a first rifle for a child
- Grandparents who want to start a grandkid shooting
- Youth programs and 4-H shooting clubs
An adult should always supervise a young shooter. The NSSF firearm safety page has free material for teaching kids the basics.
Care and storage
After a range day, run a few patches through the bore from the breech end and wipe the metal down. Store the rifle unloaded and locked, with the ammo kept somewhere else. A cable lock through the open action is cheap and works.
