Inside the Crickett 722 Precision Trainer 20 Inch
The 722 is the Crickett for shooters who’ve outgrown a single shot. It’s a bolt action repeater with a 7 round self-retaining snap lock magazine with stainless steel feed lips, a short 5 inch receiver with 1.6 inches of bolt travel and a cock on open bolt.
It sits in the A-B Arms Mod X Urban Sniper stock on a 6061 T6 aluminum chassis, so length of pull adjusts. The 20 inch bull barrel is threaded 1/2×28, and the 5.68 inch Picatinny rail takes your optic. PT models use a target chamber, so skip Stinger ammo.
Blued steel looks sharp and costs a little less than stainless. A quick wipe with an oily rag after use keeps rust away.
Why .22 Long Rifle?
A .22 LR costs a few cents per round and barely moves the rifle when it fires. Kids can shoot a whole box without flinching, and it’s plenty for small game and tin cans. For the technical side, see the SAAMI cartridge drawings or the .22 LR article on Wikipedia.
