Crickett 722 Classic 22 LR features
Crickett built the 722 as a step up from the single shot. You get a 7 round detachable magazine with stainless steel feed lips, a cock on open bolt with a 50 degree throw and a light trigger of about 2 pounds.
The barrel is 4140 steel, precision micro button rifled with a sporting chamber. The receiver is drilled and tapped, the safety is a thumb trigger block, and the trigger guard is billet aluminum. The walnut Monte Carlo stock gives a 13.5 inch length of pull.
The blued barrel has the traditional look. Keep a light coat of oil on it and store it dry.
Why .22 Long Rifle?
The .22 Long Rifle is the cheapest and quietest common cartridge, with almost no recoil. That’s why most people learn to shoot with one. It’s also good for squirrels, rabbits and plinking out to about 75 yards. For the technical side, see the SAAMI cartridge drawings or the .22 LR article on Wikipedia.

Sizing the Crickett 722 Classic 22 LR
The 722 is longer and heavier than the single shot Crickett, so it suits teens and adults. The cock on open bolt means the rifle is cocked as you lift the handle, which keeps the bolt stroke short and quick for follow-up shots.
Who the Crickett 722 Classic 22 LR is for
We see the Crickett 722 Classic 22 LR go to:
- Rimfire match shooters
- Ranch and farm pest control
- Teens who have outgrown a single shot
Supervise young shooters every time. The National Shooting Sports Foundation has a helpful safety resource page for families.
Care and storage
After a range day, run a few patches through the bore from the breech end and wipe the metal down. Store the rifle unloaded and locked, with the ammo kept somewhere else. A cable lock through the open action is cheap and works.
