Crickett 722 Precision Trainer Short Barrel features
Crickett built the 722 as a step up from the single shot. You get a 7 round detachable magazine with stainless steel feed lips, a cock on open bolt with a 50 degree throw and a light trigger of about 2 pounds.
The 16.5 inch bull barrel is threaded and the whole rifle sits in an A-B Arms Urban Sniper Mod X aluminum chassis with an adjustable stock. It’s optics ready, and the target chamber means no Stinger ammo.
Blued steel looks sharp and costs a little less than stainless. A quick wipe with an oily rag after use keeps rust away.
The .22 LR cartridge
A .22 LR costs a few cents per round and barely moves the rifle when it fires. Kids can shoot a whole box without flinching, and it’s plenty for small game and tin cans. Wikipedia has a good .22 Long Rifle history, and SAAMI publishes the chamber drawings.

Getting the fit right
The 722 is longer and heavier than the single shot Crickett, so it suits teens and adults. The cock on open bolt means the rifle is cocked as you lift the handle, which keeps the bolt stroke short and quick for follow-up shots.

Keeping it in good shape
After a range day, run a few patches through the bore from the breech end and wipe the metal down. Store the rifle unloaded and locked, with the ammo kept somewhere else. A cable lock through the open action is cheap and works.
