Our Crickett Laminate Black Bolt Action 22 LR pairs a black laminate stock with a blued steel 16.125 inch barrel, chambered in .22 Long Rifle. It sells for $199 at Crickett Firearms America. Add it to your cart and enter your preferred FFL dealer at checkout.
What you get with the Crickett Laminate Black Bolt Action 22 LR
It’s a single shot bolt action that has to be cocked by hand after the bolt closes. The rebounding firing pin stays blocked until then. For a first rifle, that slow loading routine is a feature, since it builds the habit of treating every shot on purpose.
Length of pull is 11.5 inches, which suits most young shooters, it weighs about 3 pounds and it comes with iron sights and a receiver drilled and tapped for an optics rail. The Crickett line carries a lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship from the maker.
Bluing is the classic finish on a .22. Wipe it with a lightly oiled rag after a wet day and it stays in good shape for years.
.22 LR in the Crickett Laminate Black Bolt Action 22 LR
.22 Long Rifle ammo is cheap, easy to find and mild to shoot. It’s the standard for teaching, backyard plinking at a safe range and small game hunting. Wikipedia has a good .22 Long Rifle history, and SAAMI publishes the chamber drawings.

Sizing the Crickett Laminate Black Bolt Action 22 LR
A rifle that’s too long is the most common reason kids struggle. With the stock in the shoulder, the child should reach the trigger with the first pad of the finger and keep the elbow bent. Crickett’s short length of pull is what makes that possible for small arms.
Is the Crickett Laminate Black Bolt Action 22 LR right for you?
Most buyers pick the Crickett Laminate Black Bolt Action 22 LR for one of these reasons:

Supervise young shooters every time. The National Shooting Sports Foundation has a helpful safety resource page for families.
Setup and care tips
Rimfire ammo is dirty, so clean the bore every few hundred rounds and wipe the bolt face. Store the rifle unloaded in a case or safe. Teach the shooter to check the chamber every time they pick it up.
